Our Materials
Le Connaisseur selects materials by construction, not decoration. Each fabric, hide, lining and metal component is chosen for how it performs in use: hand, weight, movement, durability and ageing.
- Taurillon leather: soft, dense full-grain leather from Remy Carriat in Espelette, France, sourced from European cattle and selected for the Asnières shoulder bag.
- Full-grain leather: the natural grain surface remains intact, giving the leather strength, texture and the ability to develop patina.
- Baby calf suede: fine-nap suede selected for a soft hand, clean drape and visible writing effect.
- Lacaune shearling: French lambskin chosen for soft wool, a fine suede side and warmth without unnecessary bulk.
- Baby cashmere: Consinee 2/28nm, 100% baby cashmere yarn from kid cashmere goats before 12 months, selected for fine softness, warmth and light weight.
- Vicuña: rare fiber from a wild South American camelid of the high Andes, reserved for garments where warmth, softness and lightness must be extraordinary.
- Bemberg cupro: Japanese cupro lining by Asahi Kasei, made from cotton linter and selected for silky glide, moisture control and reduced static inside leather jackets.
- Riri and YKK Excella zippers: polished metal zippers selected for smooth movement, durability and a clean finish.
- Cobrax Zero buttons: minimal snap buttons from the Riri group, chosen for discreet design and precise fastening.
- Oerlikon Fineparts metal components: custom luxury hardware for leather goods, footwear and apparel, selected for precise finishing, surface treatment expertise and refined detail.
